9. AUMALE (Henri d'Orléans, Duc d'). Histoire des princes de Condé pendant les XVIe et XVIIe siècles. Paris, Calmann Lévy, 1885-1896. 7 vol. in-8, eggplant half-chagrin with corners, gilt heads. The text is illustrated with 6 portraits, 2 plates and 8 maps. A scholarly study of one of France's most influential noble families by the Duc d'Aumale, himself a member of the royal Orléans family. The book traces the family's military, political and cultural contributions, highlighting figures such as Louis I de Bourbon, Prince de Condé, and his son Henri I de Bourbon, whose role was crucial during the Wars of Religion and the Fronde. Still consulted for its wealth of documentation. The last volume contains the analytical table. Minor defects, a good copy.
