First edition of the best-known work by Etienne Souchet (1731-1824), a lawyer at the Angoulême presidial, in which he restores order and method to custom, denigrating any legal weight to the usage qualified as science by ill-educated patricians or stubborn villagers. Binding rubbed and worn, leather missing from edges and spines, ex-dono man. on title page, other minor defects. (Dic. his. jur. fr., 720).
